OUR BELIEFS
About God
There is one true God who is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. We believe that God loved the world so much that He offered His Son for the forgiveness of sins (John 3:16). He exists in three Persons: the Father, Jesus Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit (Genesis 1; Ephesians 3:9; Matthew 28:19).
About Jesus
Jesus was born of a virgin named Mary (Galatians: 4:3-4) and is both fully God and was fully man when on earth (Hebrews 2:14-15). Jesus died willingly for our sins (Romans 4:25), and He was raised from the dead (I Corinthians 15:3-5) to be the Mediator (I Timothy 2:5) between God and humanity. God gave all authority to Jesus, and placed Him as the Head of the Church (Ephesians 1:22-23; Colossians 1:18).
About the Holy Spirit
God sent the Holy Spirit to be a Counselor, a Comforter and a Guide to His immediate followers, after Jesus' ascension (John 16:7-15) The Holy Spirit dwells in every follower of Jesus Christ in the same way that the Son & the Father dwell in us (I Corinthians 6:19, 2 Timothy 1:14). These believers receive "the gift of the Holy Spirit" when they are baptized (Acts 2:38).
About the Bible
The Bible is God's written Word. The process that God used to give us His Word is called inspiration, which means God-breathed (2 Timothy 3:16-17). The Word of God is without error and is true (Psalm 33:4, John 17:17). The Bible is the authority or standard for living our lives according to God's will for us (Psalm 119:105-112, 2 Peter 1:3)
About Salvation
We believe that salvation comes to those who repent and are baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of their sins (Acts 2:38). Through his death and resurrection, Christ defeated sin and death, making our salvation possible (Heb. 9:27-28). This salvation is by grace and is received through faith in Christ Jesus when we have our sins washed away in baptism (Titus 2:11-14, Ephesians 2:8-9).
About the Church
The church is God’s spiritual family—people who follow Jesus. It is not a building. We believe that the church represents Jesus Christ to a world that needs to experience His grace and love. Jesus foretold His church to come (Matthew 16:13-19) which His apostles began on the Day of Pentecost in Acts 2:38. Jesus is head of the church (Col. 1:18) and members of the church make up his body (Col. 2:19, Eph. 4:4-6). God adds believers to the church (Acts 2:44-47). We believe all believers have specific roles in the church (Titus 2:1-5, I Corinthians 14:34-35, Ephesians 4:15-16).
About Faith
In all matters of faith and practice, Scripture is the final authority. In all matters of faith, the church should be unified (Eph. 4:3, Philippians 2:2). Faith is shown by believers in their obedience to God and how they treat each other (John 13:34-35).
About Family
We believe that marriage is an established union of God (Gen. 2:18-24), and it is a union between one man and one woman (Genesis 1:27-28, 2:18-24, I Corinthians 7:2). Children are a blessing from the Lord and should be raised up and trained in a Biblical manner (Proverbs 22:6). Each role in the family is defined and guided by God's Word (Ephesians 5:31-6:4).
About Worship
We hold to the examples written in scripture of the early church.
We observe the Lord’s Supper each first day of the week (Acts 20:7).
We sing praises to God without the use of manmade instrumental accompaniment (Ephesians 5:19, Colossians 3:16).
We worship God through prayer (Colossians 4:2, Acts 2:42) and by preaching the word of God (I Timothy 4:13).
We believe that we are to give back financially a part of what we have received from God each first day of the week (I Corinthians 16:2, 2 Corinthians 9:7).
